Travel Plans / Directions

Getting here is half the battle! We are located in Healy, Alaska where Your trip begins. Healy is the gateway communtiy to Denali National Park, just 14 miles north of the Park entrance. We do not have commercial air service or rental car service. We do have an airstrip capable of handling a lear jet if you have one!

Your trip will begin with a commercial air flight to Anchorage or Fairbanks. We are located 110 miles south of Fairbanks and 250 miles north of Anchorage. It is easier to juggle travel out of Fairbanks, but a little more expensive to fly in to. You will have to weigh your options and see what works best for you.

A rental car, shuttle or the Alaska Railroad will get you to Healy. We are located at mile 251 on the George Parks Highway #3.

A rental car offers you flexibility if you are interested in getting out of the field as soon as possible and getting to your departure destination asap on your schedule. It does seem like a waste as the car will just sit here while you hunt. There are no rental cars or rental returns available here in Healy.

There are two shuttle services that we use, The Alaska Yukon Trails shuttle is a 15-23 passenger van service. They pull a covered trailer for gear and such. Their shuttle schedules and information are located at www.alaskashuttle.com. The other shuttle service is The Alaska Park Connection, a full size tour bus, and their information is located at www.alaskacoach.com. Both companies provide daily service to Healy on a set schedule. They run until Sept. 15-30 depending on weather.

The Alaska Railroad, the number one rated passenger train in North America, provides daily service, both directions, until the 15th of September, thereafter only passenger service is on Saturday and Sunday.
